What’s On Tonight: ‘It’s Always Sunny,’ ‘Workaholics,’ And ‘Broad City’ Are All Back

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia (FXX, 10:00 p.m.) — The gang tries to best Wade Boggs’ beer drinking record. I assume his chicken eating record is safe. That reference is for the Wade Boggs purists in the audience.

Workaholics (Comedy Central, 10:00 p.m.) — Season 5 kicks off as the guys visit a college job fair and get into it with some Coast Guard officers.

Broad City (Comedy Central, 10:30 p.m.) In the season 2 premiere, Abbi is looking for an air conditioner and Ilana is trying to find a gift for Lincoln. Maybe she can give him the gift of fidelity. #NoIDidnt #YesIDid

ABC’s Comedy Block (ABC, 8:00-10:00 p.m.) — Frankie is forced to work at her old job on The Middle, the episode of The Goldbergs is titled “The Daryl Dawkins Dance” but is presumably devoid of chocolate thunder, neighbor trouble comes to Modern Family, and Dre takes the kids on an MLK Day ski trip on Black-ish.

Empire (FOX, 9:00 p.m.) — Cookie is fabulous when she helps Lucious navigate a crisis with one of his artists, but fabulously furious at him when Hakeem gets a huge showcase but leaves Jamal out in the cold.

American Horror Story: Freak Show (FX, 10:00 p.m.) — According to the press release, “The Freaks enforce their harsh code of justice.” I can only assume that this involves tickle fights and cruel taunts.

Man Seeking Woman (FXX, 10:30 p.m.) — This is a pretty standard story about a bruised romantic who is trying to find love in the modern world after a break up. The hook is that every dating cliche is pushed to its absurdist limit. Josh’s first date after his break-up is with an actual troll and his ex-girlfriend is dating Adolf Hitler (as played by Bill Hader). I was lucky enough to see the premiere. It is the magical unicorn of TV comedies.

LATE NIGHT GUESTS: Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting and Omar Epps on Kimmel; Amanda Peet and Simon Helberg on Letterman; Nick Cannon on The Talk; Gwyneth Paltrow and Josh Gad on Fallon; Carrie Brownstein on Meyers; Julianne Moore on The Daily Show; and Patrick Stewart on Conan.
