Earlier arguments the Wizards couldn’t beat the cream of the Eastern Conference might need to be amended after the 23-33 Pistons handled them as easily as Andre Drummond handled Marcin Gortat‘s dunk attempt in the second half.
The Cavs destroyed the Wizards, 127-89, in Washington on Friday following their return from the All-Star break. But the Pistons, sporting a new guard in Reggie Jackson, upended them again on Sunday afternoon with a 106-89 win.
Detroit got the 106-89 win despite Marcin Gortat going off for 16 first-half points on a perfect 8-of-8 from the field. Gortat added eight more in the second half, but was only 4-of-10 from the field including Drummond’s no soup for you moment.
Drummond had 18 points and 16 rebounds, Greg Monroe had 15 and 15, Kentavious Caldewell-Pope had a game-high 26 and Reggie came back from a tough first half to add 17 five and five in his Pistons debut. Detroit is 2-0 since their deadline day trade, and the Wizards have lost three in a row dating back before the break.’
