‘Tis the season for dumb sports bets, it seems. After a hockey fan had to get Gary Bettman’s face tattooed on his butt last week, this basketball fan made good on a bet to eat his shirt if the Warriors advanced to the NBA Finals.
As you likely know by now, the Warriors came back from a 3-1 series deficit to eliminate the Thunder in Game 7 on Monday night, sending Golden State to the Finals for a chance to become back-to-back champs. After Game 5, a Reddit user by the username of PARTYxDIRTYDAN had the bold inclination to promise that he’d eat his shirt if they completed the comeback.
Whoops.
Sure, the odds of a comeback weren’t in the Warriors favor, but, as it turns out, the team that finished with the best record in the history of the league and employs the first-ever unanimous MVP is pretty good! Poor DIRTYDAN never saw this coming.
That brings us to the shirt-eating. Dan made good on his promise and gobbled up some shirt on video to prove he’s a man of his word. However, he elected not to eat the whole thing.
“I don’t want to, like, die, so I’m just gonna eat, like, part of this shirt.”
A quote for the ages right there, folks.
After cutting up the shirt into a few strips, the man weighed in with his official shirt-tasting review.
“It wasn’t that terrible with barbecue sauce.”
Plot twist: Dan actually enjoys the taste of shirt! However, he did revise his review a few seconds later as he let us all know that the shirt was “not even chewable.” Who would have thunk it.
Still, at least eating shirt is a lot better than eating sh*t.
