Draymond Green Essentially Guaranteed A Warriors Win In Game 4

The Warriors were trounced by the Trail Blazers in Game 3 of their second-round series on Saturday night. Despite not having two-time MVP Stephen Curry in the lineup, the Warriors lead the best-of-seven series 2-1 and can take command with a Game 4 win on Monday night.

The Warriors haven’t lost two straight games this season and Draymond Green just about promised it wasn’t going to happen now. From SFGate.com:

“We’ll be better, I’ll be better, and we’ll win.”

Klay Thompson echoed the point: “I sensed it (Saturday) night after the game — guys weren’t happy, as they should be. It sucks to lose, especially in the playoffs. I feel like we’ll come out with a lot of fire (Monday) night, and I think we’ll be fine.”

That story also notes that the Warriors won games that followed their nine regular-season losses by an average of 14.6 points. After their previous playoff loss, April 21 in Houston, they won the next game by 27.

It seems like the Warriors take losses personally and choose to destroy their next opponent because of it. Doing it without Curry makes it a little more difficult, but Green’s guarantee isn’t all that bold when you get right down to it. This is the best team in the league and they haven’t lost twice in a row in 90 games. It’s like guaranteeing the sun will rise or the New England Patriots will cheat to win at some point this season.
