Was Dwyane Wade Fouled On The Heat’s Last Chance To Tie The Hornets?

With just over five seconds remaining in his team’s crucial game against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night, Dwyane Wade leapt to corral a blocked jumper by Goran Dragic and turned his attention to the rim. After taking one dribble and rising toward the basket, the Miami Heat legend had his game-tying shot contested by Cody Zeller and Courtney Lee.

The result was a flailing attempt that had absolutely no chance of going in. Kemba Walker grabbed the loose ball, was fouled, and the Hornets inbounded the ball from there after a video review to seal a 90-88 victory.

Wade, perhaps understandably, was incensed by the officials’ lack of a foul call. Does he have a case? That’s tough to say for sure. Zeller definitely seems to be going straight up as the three-time champion rises to shoot; he definitely isn’t the offender here. Lee, on the other hand, might have raked Wade across the wrist just before the ball is lost.

Nevertheless, the officials didn’t see enough to blow the whistle, and Charlotte came away with a huge victory in Game 5. Let’s see how Wade and Miami react in Buzz City come Friday’s elimination contest.
