Jahlil Okafor Called Out The Media For Conflicting Sixers Stories And Using Unnamed ‘Sources’

All offseason there have been rumors floating that Jahlil Okafor may be on the move. Even though the former Duke star made it through draft night still a 76er, as recently as a few days ago he was still supposedly on the block to be moved.

Understandably, Okafor is fed up with it and he took to Twitter Sunday night to call out reporters for conflicting reports surrounding his Philly future, while also lobbing grenades at all the unnamed “sources” writers are using to back up their unsubstantiated claims. He also called writers “lazy” and said once and for all that he is happy where he is.

Okafor certainly has a point. If you throw the word “sources” onto any report, you can basically say whatever you want and there is no way for anyone to refute it because they don’t know where exactly you’re getting your information from. On the other hand, that’s the reporters’ job, whether Okafor likes it or not, and they’re going to report any information they get even if it turns out not to be 100 percent true. How do you think Stephen A. Smith continues to have a job?

Okafor showed promise in his rookie season, but he also had his fair share of issues. If the 76ers do hold on to him, they will certainly be looking for him to mature this season both on and off the court. Even though calling out the media may be somewhat justified, it’s probably not the best look for him at this stage of his career.
