LeBron Clarified That He Only Says ‘Cryptic Sh*t’ On Twitter

The Cavs are in crisis mode. Not only have they been a total disaster on the court, they’ve turned on one another in the locker room like a bunch of angry hens. Right now, they can pretty much forget about challenging the Warriors for a title this season. They’ll be lucky to make it out of the East.

Looming over all of this, of course, is LeBron James‘ pending free agency, of which he’s taking his usual tract of being utterly circumspect about his decision, except to shoot down a non-story about potentially joining the Warriors. We’ve also reached that time of year when he starts firing off vaguely passive-aggressive social media volleys.

Yet, when a Cavs beat reporter asked him about his Instagram post from earlier this week decrying laziness, LeBron claimed that he prefers to use a different social media platform to vaguely criticize his teammates.

Via The Akron Beacon Journal:

On a black background, the Instagram post had these words: “When you become lazy it’s disrespectful to those who believe in you,” which ignited social media speculation.

“When I say cryptic s—t it’s on Twitter,” James said after the game.

First of all, props (I suppose?) for owning up to his penchant for sending cryptic messages into the digital ether. But seeing as how LeBron didn’t clarify whether his Instagram post was aimed at anyone in particular or simply self-directed, it remains just about as cryptic as you can get.

And we can likely only expect more as we are just halfway through what’s already been a tumultuous season for him and Cavs and most certainly won’t get any easier from here on out.
