I usually pride myself on being able to come up with dirtier words to use than the next guy, but even I have to give Mike White credit. Aside from countless other projects, White is the guy who wrote The School of Rock and one of the writers for Nacho Libre, both of which kicked major amounts of awesomeness, while still barely using any content rated outside of PG. I can respect that.
Which is why it’s awesome news that Mike White has officially signed on as the new director of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, based on the love child novel from Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith. In the last few months, this project has been passed around more than Pokémon, even hooking David O. Russell at one point.
Say what you will over Mike White’s directing capabilities (2007’s Year of the Dog), he’s had his hand in the cookie jar of more than enough successful features to pull this one off. They say revenge is a dish best served cold -and you could argue that comedy is great when served dry, which under the circumstances is both a win for audiences and Mike White.
Special thanks to Bleeding Cool for the tip.
