This Sick Fan Was Able To See ‘Batman V Superman’ Before Passing Away

According to the Batman For Bazz Facebook page, Batman superfan Barry, whose dying wish was to see Batman V Superman before he died, passed away last month. Fortunately, thanks to Zack Snyder and the team behind Batman V Superman, he was able to screen the film before he died. Say what you will about the Hollywood system, no one has to do this. This is pure altruism, and absolutely wonderful that creators will reach out to their fans in this way. It’s especially telling since #Batman4Bazz wasn’t even a particularly popular movement, unlike the previous campaigns to get Star Wars: The Force Awakens screened for a terminally ill fan. Zack Snyder’s heart is in the right place. This is truly beautiful.

Despite the heartbreaking crux of the story, it’s people like Zack Snyder and J.J. Abrams that are transcending the artist/fan relationship. These characters are not simply a commodity, they are our childhoods, our adulthoods and something we bond with our friends and family over. We share these characters we’ve known our entire lives not only in life, but in death. Sometimes it’s important to remember that these movies mean more than a box office or a review.

Thankfully, we have the technology to grant these wishes to fans who are unable to travel to a theater.
