‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2’ Peeks Out With A New TV Spot

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was a surprisingly likeable movie much like the cartoons; it didn’t make much sense, especially when suddenly the Turtles were dangling off the Alps that are apparently just outside of New York City, but it was amusing. The sequel appears to be aiming to be a little cartoonier this time around, right down to Raph bouncing off an airplane and Casey Jones going for the nut shot on a Foot soldier.

Yep, it’s going to be that kind of movie, although to be fair, the Turtles are usually at their best when they’re being at least a little goofy. And there does seem to be a glimmer of wit or two here; if you look closely the movie parodies The Avengers, with Amell on rollerblades standing in for Black Widow and Rocksteady filling in for the Hulk. Also, it’s kind of nice to see Bebop and Rocksteady finally getting their due in a movie, and with their classic designs, no less. They even get their tank back!

That said, it’s a crowded summer this movie arrives in, and it’ll have to do a lot to stand out. But we’ll find out just how much audiences love the Turtles on June 3.
