The recent death of Star Wars actor Erik Bauersfeld has stirred up a lot of emotions among Star Wars fans and made us reflect on the lesser known heroes of the films. Admiral Ackbar’s famous “it’s a trap” has become one of the most famous memes in all of memedom, and before his passing only the most hardcore of Star Wars nerd knew the name Erik Bauersfeld. Considering it was originally an uncredited role, it should come as no surprise.
Bauersfeld wasn’t even the most prolific actor, providing voice work for Spielberg’s A.I. in 2001 and 2015’s Crimson Peak before reprising his role as Admiral Ackbar in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Outside of that, he appeared in two Star Wars video-game titles as the voice of Admiral Ackbar again. Bauersfeld will go down in history for his memorable lines as Admiral Ackbar and Bib Fortuna, but he shouldn’t be the only one.
