Money’s tight right now, but Warner Bros. is trying to help movie freaks like me out by offering a bunch of new additions to their 4 Film Favorites series. The 2-disc sets are out now and are set to run you $19.94. And the best part is that these aren’t just bottom-of-the-barrel flicks, but actually pretty good sets. Here’s the rundown.
Includes Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever and Batman & Robin
What used to be an $80 set, will now run you a twenty spot. Personally, I never got into the first Tim Burton movie, but Returns was probably my most-watched VHS tape as a kid, so this is right up my alley. Also, which genius do you think told the designers to put the film posters in alphabetical instead of chronological order on the DVD cover?
Includes Blade, Blade II, Blade Trinity and Blade House of Chthon
This is another great series for comic movie fans. The first flick was rad and kicked off the superhero movie era we’re currently in (for better or worse) and the follow-ups were, well, okay. I never saw the TV show, which is where House of Chthon came from, but I’d still pick this set up for the sake of having the full set.
BRUCE WILLIS COLLECTION
Includes The Last Boy Scout, 16 Blocks, Last Man Standing and The Whole Nine Yards
This seems like a pretty serviceable representation from Willis’ mostly badass film career. They’re not my favorites, but LMS and 16 Blocks are sick movies.
POLICE ACADEMY & COP COMEDY COLLECTIONS
Includes Police Academy 1-4
Includes Police Academy 5-7 and National Lampoon’s Loaded Weapon 1
Even though most of the Police Academy movies are available for instant watch on Netflix, sometimes you just want to watch all 7 movies back to back and now you can for $40. Plus, the Cop Comedy Collection comes with my favorite latter day National Lampoon movie, Loaded Weapon which is a great spoof of cop movies of the late 80s and 90s like Die Hard and Lethal Weapon and stars Sam Jackson.
HOUSE PARTY COLLECTION
Includes House Party 1-4
YES! Kid ‘N Play’s seminal film series finally all in one place! I’m glad WB got my letters and made this happen. The only thing that could make the collection better is if they also included K ‘N P’s other film Class Act. I’d pay any extra couple of bucks for that.
