Starbucks’ New Frappula Frappuccino Lets You Celebrate Halloween With Caffeine And Calories

The annual Starbucks rollout of the Pumpkin Spice Latte has nearly replaced natural, seasonal occurrences like dying leaves and drops in temperature as Western culture’s first indication of the fall. (Hell, the drink even has its own authenticated Twitter account.) But now it seems the coffee giant from Seattle wants to get in on the Halloween-specific market. Hence, the “Frappula Frappuccino,” which will grace participating Starbucks stores in the United States and Canada for a limited time only.

From Wednesday, Oct. 28 to Saturday, Oct. 31, Starbucks across America will literally bleed red, white and chocolate for anyone who wants to give this year’s Halloween specialty drink a try. The drink blends white chocolate sauce, milk and ice together, then layers it between mocha sauce and whipped cream. Raspberry syrup is then drizzled on top, followed by even more whipped cream. And yes, just in case you’re wondering, there is apparently coffee somewhere in there.

On the one hand, it sounds like yet another instance of a dessert drink replacing an otherwise good old-fashioned cup of black, unmolested coffee. On the other hand, the added raspberry could make for a great ouch-I-lost-my-tooth prank on the morning commute. Only other Starbucks regulars with as much love for Halloween as you wouldn’t fall for it. (So nobody would fall for it, basically.)

Too bad the frappula frappuccino is only available in the U.S. through Halloween Day on Saturday. The Canadians get it for an extra day on Sunday, Nov. 1.
