Michael C. Hall had no problem convincing us that he was a do-gooder serial killer on Dexter, but this new Disney news is a bit harder to believe. The actor has apparently been tapped for a role in the studio’s reboot of Pete’s Dragon along with fellow Hollywood heavyweights Robert Redford, Bryce Dallas Howard and Wes Bentley.

The story is a heartwarming tale of an orphan boy who befriends a gentle green and purple dragon named Elliot who has the power of invisibility and often gets his young friend into mischief. Ultimately though Elliot helps Pete save his small seaside fishing town and find a loving family. We’re not sure what role Hall has in the film but here’s hoping Disney takes a risk and finds a way for him to play Dexter Morgan again. Serial killing psychopaths with a sense of social justice are the kind of role models the youth of America really needs. (Plus, the original Pete’s Dragon was pretty creepy to begin with.)
