Your First Look At Idris Elba Voicing A Scary Tiger In Disney’s Live-Action ‘Jungle Book’

People have been excitedly anticipating the live action remake of Disney’s The Jungle Book since last year. Now the previews are coming, including this one featuring a first look of Idris Elba (or the Man Who Should Be Bond) voicing Shere Khan, or the evil tiger.

As Vulture points out, Elba sounds a lot like The Lion King‘s Scar in this trailer. The preview is a scene in which a bunch of animals watch while Shere Khan menaces the boy hero, Mowgli. “I can’t help but notice there’s this strange odor today,” Khan says, his voice dripping with contempt. “What is it? This scent that I’m on. I almost–almost think it was some kind of–man cub.” Cue threatening musical score.

The wolves protecting Mowgli try to say that he’s a part of their pack, but Shere Khan is here to remind all the animals what happens when they accept a “man cub” into their ranks. “Does my face not remind you of what a grown man can do? Shed your hunting ground for a few years, and everyone forgets how the law works. Well, let me remind you, a man cub becomes man, and man is forbidden!”

Good voice work from Elba. Now I want to see an extended preview of Bill Murray’s Baloo.
