Woody Harrelson Running A Hawaiian Marijuana Dispensary Is A Movie We Want To See

File this one in the “of course” section. Actor and noted hemp/weed enthusiast Woody Harrelson has applied to open one of the first marijuana dispensaries in Hawaii, as per the state’s department of public health. That agency published all 66 applicants on its website Friday, and Harrelson’s name was among them.

The True Detective star applied for the license using the name of his company, Simple Organic Living, LLC, Eight licenses will be made available to applicants. Criteria for being selected includes having at least $1 million in cash, $100,000 for each location and proof of residence in Hawaii for at least five years.

Hawaii became the first state to legalize medical marijuana 16 years ago and with recreational weed having been made legal in multiple states, lawmakers in paradise are looking to ride the wave, dude.

Harrelson — who will next be seen in Triple 9 opposite Casey Affleck and Kate Winslet later this month — was once arrested in Kentucky for planting four hemp seeds in order to challenge a state law that spelled out no differentiation between hemp and marijuana. He was later acquitted of a misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession.

Clearly, Woody is still super serious about his buds. For all you stoner tourists thinking about planning a trip to Hawaii in the near future, Harrelson wants to open his dispensary in Honolulu County and all eight dispensaries are scheduled to open in July. Until then, we will continue hope that this will also become a movie plot and Matthew McConaughey will come calling once again. Make it happen, Harrelson.
