Yasiin Bey's 'Ni**as In Poorest' Is The Best 'Ni**as In Paris' Remix Of Them All

This video was spread around quite a bit last week, but it was so good — downright powerful even — that I just can’t not post it now that I’m back from a desperately needed stretch of R&R.

It’s Yasiin Bey, the artist formerly known as Mos Def who I recently discovered lives roughly two stone throws away from me, with a “Ni**as In Paris” remix titled “Ni**as In Poorest” that flips the script on the original, a celebration of the orgy of excess that comes with rapper money, and turns it into an interesting piece of have/have not social commentary.

“Poor so hard,
Your house so cold,
Ni**a it ain’t spring,
Every winter landlord f*cking with my heat again.”

Enjoy…
