In his review of Fiona Apple’s show at SXSW, Brandon at With Leather noted that Apple’s first new album in years was due out in June and would hopefully “lead to a sort-of cultural relevancy rebirth for Apple.” Well she’s back, baby, and she’s storming through the cultural relevancy front door with a goddamn octopus on her head!
No, seriously, Fiona sports an octopus on her head in the new video for “Every Single Night,” which I’m convinced was directed by Roger Sterling on acid (more on that to come later, btw). See for yourself below.
Meanwhile, Apple’s new album — titled The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do — is available for full streaming on NPR’s website.
