Michelle Obama And Jay Pharoah Drop Some Educated Bars In ‘Go To College’

The Obamas continue to be the coolest first family in America’s history. While Barack recently appeared on the TV show, Running Wild with Bear Grylls, Michelle actually might have been part of the coolest clip made during their time in Washington. With the White House as the background, The FLOTUS enlisted the help of comedian Jay Pharoah and College Humor to promote the Better Make Room initiative with the song “Go to College.” The two-minute song, which features rap verses from both the FLOTUS and Pharoah, is all about getting students to continue their education by, you guessed it, going to college.

The video begins with two students asking each other what they want to do after high school, and Pharoah immediately pops out from under the table to begin his verse about the importance of continued education. Michelle joins in on the hook with the lines, “If you wanna fly jets, you should go to college/ reach high and cash checks, fill your head with knowledge/ if you wanna watch paint, don’t go to college/ but for everything else, you should go to college.”

As corny as the lyrics may be, Jay Pharoah and Michelle Obama surprisingly make a good rap duo for the video, portraying the rapper/hype man dynamic that is typical in rap. While they may not be UGK or Outkast, Pharaoah and FLOTUS have made a hit in the viral video world, and it’s all for a good cause.
