Looks like there’s a chance that Adam Levine and the rest of Maroon 5 will be taking the field for the Super Bowl 50 halftime show in 2016. According to E! News, the NFL has discussed other performers such as Coldplay and Super Bowl alumni Bruno Mars, but Maroon 5 is “the current front-runner for the gig.”

Back in September, Billboard reported that Mars was rumored to have been invited back as a curator for Super Bowl 50. The previous year, pop superstar Katy Perry headlined and was accompanied by Lenny Kravitz, Missy Elliott, and that memorable Left Shark.

We’ll see if Maroon 5 ends up being the performer after all (maybe the NFL will take one of the suggestions we offered this year); the opportunity would come with one of the biggest audiences they’ve played for so far, with over a hundred million people watching the annual event each year.
