Nicki Minaj Tries To Outdo Kim Kardashian’s Internet Breaking Cover With One Of Her Own And Folks Went Mad

Kim Kardashian’s PAPER magazine cover is the stuff of internet legend at this point, even if the idea of claiming you broke the internet seems off unless you really do it. The partially nude cover garnered plenty of attention back in 2014, but now Nicki Minaj has come for the crown and she isn’t coming alone.

For PAPER‘s 2017 winter issue, three faces of Nicki Minaj grace the cover in a set of salacious poses that make Kardashian seem fairly tame in comparison. Roman Zolanski, The The Harajuku Barbie, and Onika herself — though it could be some of the many others — are front and center to represent the many alter egos of Minaj, all while attempting to push limits of what would earn the magazine one of those black bags you see at the gas station.

But that’s only the cover and Minaj teased much more of what it teases for inside the magazine with a NSFW video clip the preceded the cover reveal, seemingly showing the many versions of Minaj playing around with each other.

PAPER describes Minaj as “eye-catching” and “seductive” depending on the persona she is wearing at the moment, so the idea for their latest #BreakTheInternet shoot was to combine all of them and create a sort of Orphan Black starring the rap queen. Mick Foley is jealous:

I have always loved all of the looks that Nicki has done (and she has done them all). Her style (typically anchored by her off-the-charts hair choices) matches her musical talent perfectly. Break the Internet is all about the big idea, the word, the image. It came to me one day that ‘Minaj à trois’ had never been done. HOW? We have seen different versions of Nicki, from high fashion to seductive to in-your-face and eye-catching all at the same time. But we had never seen all of these together — and now we have the chance, thanks to our cover shoot with the rap star and Ellen von Unwerth. Welcome to Break the Internet.

But for some fans, the three faces of Minaj don’t necessarily represent just her alter-egos. The cover has some people calling out to three different “eras” of female rap royalty, including the new queen Cardi B, the original Lil Kim, and Minaj herself bridging that gap. That might be reading into it all a bit too much, but who cares at this point. The internet is broken and mayhem has taken hold.

Most fans couldn’t handle the magazine and exploded with praise for Minaj over the shoot and anxiously awaited more once the cover story is release in full on Wednesday afternoon — with the full magazine with more photos on sale December 12th.

So check back tomorrow for more, unless this actually does end up cracking the internet in half and releasing whatever evil lurks inside across the globe. At least we will have been entertained by Nicki Minaj and her different personas, hopefully complete with superpowers like some sort of rap Justice League ready to save the day.
