How Did The Cardinals And Red Sox Make It To The World Series? Elephants, Of Course!

Red Sox elephant

According to various superstitions, elephants are known to bring good luck, and that’s why the folks at Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus think they may have had a hand in the successes of the St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox in winning the National League and American League Championship Series, respectively.

Elephants represent good luck and that must be true, because the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey elephants were in Boston and St. Louis last week with The Greatest Show On Earth as both the Red Sox and the Cardinals won their league’s pennants and advanced to the 2013 World Series.

While we can’t take credit, we’d like to think that a little luck from Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey elephants, the teams’ biggest fans, is proving to be another great baseball superstition. Congratulations to both the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox! (Via PR Newswire)

More specifically, it is believed that an elephant with a raised trunk indicates luck for a person, or in this case a baseball team, which means that the above elephant is predicting victory for the Sox, while the two morose looking elephants below are indicating a repeat of the 2004 World Series. Whatever, stupid elephants. I hope the Red Sox rings are made from ivory*.

*I do not actually wish this. I love elephants.
