Will Brock Lesnar's Return To The UFC Be Announced At UFC 168? Maybe. Maybe Not.

UFC President Dana White hosted his standard post-press conference, pre-fight media scrum for UFC 168 yesterday, and it was very surprisingly short. In fact, when the longest video I could find was barely 10 minutes, I was terrified that we’d never know how many times he cursed in a one-hour period, in between being incredibly vague about anything newsworthy. But that was actually it, just a 10-minute session that basically reinforced White’s faith in Uriah Hall, confidence in Miesha Tate and assertion that 2013’s main events were among the best in the promotion’s history.

White did say that he hopes to make some big announcements for 2014 at tomorrow’s huge PPV card that is headlined by the rematch of Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva, as well as Ronda Rousey and Tate, but only if things fell into place before then. But could one of those announcements be that Brock Lesnar could be returning to the UFC to provide some star power in the wake of Georges St-Pierre’s “vacation”? *smirk, smile, smirk, smirk* Maybe.

Reporter: So rumor has it Brock Lesnar is coming to UFC 168. Is he coming for the fights or is he coming to talk business?

White: Really? I don’t know. I honestly don’t know.

Reporter: Honestly?

White: Honestly.

*grin, laugh, smile, smirk, grin, wise-crackin’ wise crackety crack crack*

Well, we all know that White and Lesnar spoke before the 20th anniversary show at UFC 167 and things seemed to finally be better between the prez and the man who made UFC 100 the biggest PPV in UFC history. Meanwhile, UFC Heavyweight Champ Cain Velasquez is expected to miss a year with his shoulder injury, so it would make perfect sense that Lesnar could return to avenge his last loss, which was a TKO at the hands of Alistair Overeem, and then set up a No. 1 contender fight with Fabricio Werdum or Junior Dos Santos to determine who will take on Velasquez in his return next December or January.

Obviously, that’s all speculation and there could be a better chance that I end up fighting Velasquez next, but you can read White’s smirky-grin-smirk for yourself (at the 10:30 mark for Lesnar news).
