Sheldon Richardson is not having a good offseason. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the St. Louis native ran into some trouble with the law while in his hometown.

“Richardson was charged Thursday with resisting arrest and various traffic violations stemming from an apparent high-speed, late-night road race on Highway 40 (Interstate 64) on July 14, authorities said.”

He was clocked driving his car at 143 mph.

To make matters worse, Richardson tried to escape from the officers.

“According to court records, Richardson drove around stopped vehicles and turned off his lights as he fled the officer. At one point, on Phoenix Parkway, Richardson lost control of the Bentley, sliding the rear of the car into an oncoming lane of traffic.

Officers caught up with Richardson after he pulled into the driveway of a home in a nearby neighborhood in the WingHaven development.”

When Richardson eventually stopped, police discovered a semi-loaded automatic handgun. Two adult males and one 12-year-old boy, who was identified as a relative.

This latest incident only adds to Richardson’s troubles. He is set to serve a four-game suspension to start the upcoming NFL season. He allegedly tested positive for marijuana. At the time of the announcement of his suspension he said he wouldn’t fail another drug test.

Richardson could be looking at additional games added to his suspension due to his latest run-in.
