Chase Utley’s 13-year stint with the Philadelphia Phillies has reached its end. The Phillies have agreed to trade their long-time second baseman to the Los Angeles Dodgers for two minor-league prospects, as reported by Jon Heyman from CBS Sports:

The deal would be expected to be for multiple “mid-level” prospects, not very top guys. In recent talks, the Dodgers were not offering to extend Utley, whose deal runs out after the year.

Utley has a no-trade clause in his contract, but he is willing to waive it for a deal to the Dodgers. It is believed that Utley wanted to be dealt to a team located in Southern California. He is a native of Long Beach and played his college ball at UCLA.

The two sides have agreed to the deal, but it has not been made official yet. At age 36, Utley’s production has tailed off. If the season ended today, his batting average and on-base percentage would register at career lows.
