Robert Griffin III Pranked A High School Football Team By Posing As A Mannequin

Robert Griffin III spent the last two seasons essentially posing as a mannequin for the Washington Redskins, but on Wednesday, the new Cleveland Browns quarterback used the bit to help others. The Browns partnered with a hospital to provide a Cleveland high school football team with $25,000 worth of newly designed football helmets. And Griffin was in on the act.

The reveal is terrific. Griffin stands stock still until one player goes up to touch the new helmet, and the former Heisman winner scares the heck out of him. Griffin then takes off the helmet and the team goes crazy. We’ve seen it over and over again – bowl game acceptances from college teams, other mannequin pranks, and new jerseys – but football teams love surprises.

It’s a really nice gesture from the Cleveland organization, and those jerseys and helmets are pretty dang sharp. They look especially good when contrasted with the Browns’ super orange, Microsoft Word clip art numbered, video game create-a-team jerseys gone wrong.

RGIII could create a lot of good will with Cleveland fans by getting those orange jerseys thrown out and getting another new set put in place. He may as well look good if he’s going to compete for that starting job.
