‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Continues To Shatter Records With New DVR Results

Fear the Walking Dead proved to be a worthy ratings successor to The Walking Dead, snagging the title of most watched cable television premiere of all-time. The show was sure to be a hit because of its link to the AMC juggernaut, but no one could have predicted just how huge Fear the Walking Dead would be.

Well, another record has been smashed with the release of the Live+3 numbers. Now that the DVR results have been added to the original ratings, the premiere had a total of 13.3 million total viewers, with 8.5 million adults 18-49. To compare, the original The Walking Dead pilot had 4.255 million in adults 18-49 in Live+3 ratings, and the season five premiere drew an insane 22.372 million viewers, with 14.523 million in the 18-49 demo in its Live+3 results. Though, to be fair, The Walking Dead didn’t have itself as a spiritual lead-in like Fear the Walking Dead did. It is pretty much guaranteed at this point that the numbers will be gargantuan when The Walking Dead returns on October 11.

Without the established characters and beloved source material, we’ll see if Fear the Walking Dead continues to have such a strong run. Either way, it is safe to assume that the American obsession with zombies is showing no signs of fading.
