Stephen Colbert Is A Little Sore Over Jeb Bush’s ‘Late Show’ Fundraiser, So He Started His Own

If you hadn’t heard, George Clooney and Jeb! Bush are the first guests on Stephen Colbert’s debut episode of The Late Show. And to celebrate, Jeb! is holding a fundraiser for one lucky fan to attend the taping and have a special dinner with New York Jets owner Woody Johnson (a treat for political football fans somewhere). All the lucky entrant has to do is donate $3 to the Jeb! campaign and they’ll be entered into the contest.

The only problem is that Jeb! didn’t let Colbert in on his little fundraiser. Using his show. His debut show. So Colbert decided to do a little mocking in his latest video and counter Jeb’s! fundraiser with his own:

All you have to do is head over to this Omaze page and donate to win the following:

  • You and a friend will go to the first ever taping of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert
  • Stephen will ask Jeb Bush a non-obscene question of your choice during the show, and you’ll maybe even have dinner with his Lead Production Accountant, Jason Block
  • Get flown to New York City and put up in a 4-star hotel

Don’t expect to spend a lot of time eating with Jason Block, though. Time equals money on the new version of The Late Show. All the donations to Colbert’s fundraiser will go to the Yellow Ribbon Fund.

Following this bit of fun, Jeb! responded with his own short video and Tweet, lowering the donation amount to just $1 and putting in a donation in Colbert’s name to the Yellow Ribbon Fund. It seems like it is all in fun, but I’d say that the debut episode of The Late Show should feature at least one interesting dynamic that wasn’t there before.
