Get A Paper Bag Ready To Breathe Into, Because The First Teaser For Showtime’s ‘Twin Peaks’ Revival Is Here

“Location sometimes becomes a character… A lot of holy places up here, a lot of sacred places. Can’t put my finger on how I would describe it… It just, touches something in the psyche. It’s almost like being in a moving painting,” voices over Michael Horse, the actor who played Deputy Tommy “Hawk” Hill in the original Twin Peaks, in this just released teaser from Showtime. As Horse finishes speaking and that familiarly beloved theme song swells, while the cover is removed for what appears to be the brand new Twin Peaks town sign, it’s almost impossible for fans not to feel a lump in the throat.

The teaser also confirms what we had sort of figured before, that Showtime’s Twin Peaks revival won’t be hitting television screens until 2017, and an accompanying press release doesn’t offer up much in the way of details.

While the full mystery awaits, fans can expect many familiar faces, including Golden Globe winner and Emmy Award nominee Kyle MacLachlan, who reprises his role as FBI Agent Dale Cooper.

Obviously the most burning question is whether or not (spoiler alert, I guess — go watch Twin Peaks already) Bob is still inhabiting the body of Agent Cooper 25 years later, and if he was ever really free from the Black Lodge. What we do know is that Kyle MacLachlan says that the scripts are “amazing,” so at least we have that to hold on to for now. 2017 never seemed so far away.
