A Prominent TV Executive Was Arrested For Murdering Her Daughter, Whom She Pretended Was Her Sister

A very strange case about the family of a high-level media executive in India is taking the country by storm. Indrani Mukerjea, who founded 9X Media and is a former executive at Star Media, was arrested for arranging to have her sister, Sheena Bora, killed by her driver. However, while an inter-family killing is extraordinary enough, it gets more complicated. Apparently, the charges against Mukerjea had to be amended to reflect the actual relationship between her and Bora — because she was really Bora’s mother, not her sister.

While one possible motive was money-related, there was also a love affair between Bora and the son of Mukerjea’s husband, Rahul Mukerjea, who was also under the impression that Bora was Mukerjea’s sister. So, if you’re keeping track so far, Rahul thought Sheena was his step-aunt when she was really his step-sister. And if Sheena and Rahul got married, “Indrani was scared she would lose her share in Peter Mukerjea’s property.”

If that’s not enough, Mukerjea has another child whom she was pretending was her brother, who is publicly accusing his mother/sister of the murder.

Bora was allegedly kidnapped by her own mother and her driver back in 2012, brought to a forest and burned. Her body was buried, and Peter Mukerjea was led to believe that Bora was sent to the United States because his wife disapproved of the relationship she was having with his son.
