Newt Gingrich Shakes His Head At Trump’s ‘Inexcusable’ Judge Comments

To the casual observer, there have been quite a few missteps when it comes to Donald Trump‘s 2016 presidential campaign. Ridiculous as it might seem, a lot of these missteps have actually worked out in his favor, instead gaining him traction with his supporters who were looking for someone to rock the boat, regardless of how or why. The latest controversy is about the whole Trump University lawsuit and the judge, which Trump has written off as a Mexican with a grudge, it being a story that simply won’t go away.

This is new for the Donald, as he’s said a lot of ridiculous things during his campaign, and while some of them might pop up again here and there, the news cycle tends to wash everything away within a day or two. The latest person to speak out against Trump’s rather blatantly tasteless use of a judge’s ethnicity to imply bias is former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, says The Hill.

“This is one of the worst mistakes Trump has made,” Gingrich said on Fox News on Sunday. “And I think it’s inexcusable. He has every right to criticize a judge — and has every right to say that certain decisions aren’t right … First of all, this judge was born in Indiana. He is an American. Period.”

Those are some rather strong, pointed words on behalf of the former Speaker of the House toward Trump. The reality here is that we know Donald Trump and know that eventually he’ll respond to this, most likely in colorful fashion where he criticizes Gingrich’s “energy” or something equally ridiculous. Gingrich suggests that Trump needs to “move his game up” as he heads into the battle for the White House.
