Bryan Singer’s X-Men Series ‘The Gifted’ Releases Its First Trailer

The X-Men, the Brotherhood, we don’t even know if they exist anymore.” Last week we saw the first teaser for the X-Men TV series from Fox and Marvel, The Gifted, and now we have a full trailer. All the typical “teenagers with superpowers” tropes are there: getting free stuff from vending machines, a powerful kid’s powers dangerously coming to fruition during a bully’s attack, running from the authorities who just don’t understand, maaaan. Et cetera. What sets this one apart, though, is the access to the X-Men universe, writer Matt Nix (Burn Notice), and frequent X-Men director Bryan Singer.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Action-adventure family drama THE GIFTED, from Marvel, tells the story of a suburban couple [Stephen Moyer and Amy Acker] whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children [Natalie Alyn Lind and Percy Hynes White] possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.

Among the mutants helping this family — who have one hell of a lineage and conflicts of interest galore — are Blink (Jamie Chung) and Thunderbird (Blair Redford), as well as Eclipse (Sean Teale), who is willing to aid them in exchange for help in finding Magneto’s daughter Polaris (Emma Dumont). Not yet explained is why the X-Men and Brotherhood have seemingly disappeared.

The Gifted has been picked up for a first season, to air on Fox presumably this Fall.
