After news broke that Adam “MCA” Yauch had passed away on Friday, tributes to the fallen Beastie Boy began popping up everywhere. Some took to Twitter, others began memorials on the streets of New York – even the Dalai Lama, who met and knew Yauch because of the rapper’s activist work, commented, “Adam had helped us raise awareness on the plight of the Tibetan people by organizing various freedom Tibet concerts and he will be remembered by his holiness and the Tibetan people.”
Many musicians paid their respects to Yauch over the weekend by performing covers of Beastie Boys songs. Not all of them are great — Coldplay’s “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party!)” is particularly galling (only Chris Martin would turn the ultimate party song into a piano ballad) — but the intentions are in the right place. Still, f*ck you, Train. Here are 10 video tributes, as well as the statement Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz left on the Beastie Boys’ blog. (And above is, via the Daily What, is a pic of a pizza delivery guy who spent the weekend delivering pizzas as Adam Yauch as MCA as Nathan Wind as Cochese.)

The Beastie Boys are big Mets fans, and vice versa. So when clubhouse music gurus Justin Turner and Scott Hairston suggested that the Mets honor late band member Adam “MCA” Yauch with their walk-up music Friday night, the whole team jumped on board. Here’s what they chose:
SS Ruben Tejada: “Intergalactic”
2B Daniel Murphy: “No Sleep Till Brooklyn”
3B David Wright: “Brass Monkey”
RF Lucas Duda: “The New Style”
LF Scott Hairston: “Root Down”
1B Ike Davis: “Fight For Your Right (To Party)”
CF Andres Torres: “So What’cha Want”
C Josh Thole: “Make Some Noise”
RHP Dillon Gee: “Body Movin'”
PH Vinny Rottino: “Paul Revere” (Via)
Not a video, but here’s what Adam Horowitz posted to Beastie Boys Blog:
