Earlier this month, we had a little glimpse into what the forthcoming album from the wildly successful house duo Disclosure would sound like with “Bang That.” The Grammy Award-nominated group said that track was being incorporated in their live sets, and it’s merely a taste of things to come. Now, we’ve got a true idea of what that second LP will sound like with its first official single in “Holding On.”
Featuring the soulful voice of Grammy winner Gregory Porter, “Holding On” recalls their breakthrough “Latch” in a way, with jazzy baritone vocals about a love Porter can’t let go of over a pulsing house beat. Even “Latch” and “Holding On” have thematically similar titles. But that isn’t to discredit or discourage; this track more than stands out on its own, and it’s a great introduction to Disclosure’s second album. At least that’s what we think.
