It’s never too early to become a tiny musical genius (hey, Mozart was playing for royalty when he was only 5). And when your parents are somewhat of a music power couple, the pressure’s on.
Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz 2-year-old son, Genesis, is already dropping beats. On Wednesday night, Swizz shared an Instagram video of his toddler beatboxing, and, uh, it’s scary impressive.
“In the middle of my #NoCommissionShanghai Genesis wanted me to hear his new beat,” Swizz wrote as the caption. In the video, little Genesis not only drops a basic beat, but he’s perfected the tongue rolls in it too. And just when you think it couldn’t get any cuter, he takes a break and starts going in hard.
It’s no surprise that the Keys household is an incubator of talent. Back in November, Swizz shared a recording of then-5-year-old Egypt singing his first original song. “Proud dad alert,” he wrote.
In March 2016, Egypt was revealed as one of the producers on Kendrick Lamar’s untitled unmastered. project. Lucky for us, there’s behind-the-scenes footage of that too:
Egypt and Genesis have a lot to live up to when it comes to their hardworking parents. Just last year, Alicia Keys released her sixth studio album, Here, which has production credits by Swizz. His other recent credits include Kendrick’s untitled unmastered., Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo, Schoolboy Q’s Blank Face LP and Snoop Dogg’s Coolaid.
