It’s “Queen” Beyonce’s world. The rest of us are wannabe princesses.
It’s been less than a week since she released what’s unquestionably her best album, Lemonade. In that time, not only has the use of the lemon emoji increased by three billion percent, but Beyonce, who’s on tour selling her “Boycott” goods, has ensured no parent will name their child Becky for years to come. She also inspired Anne Hathaway to record a very odd Instagram tribute.
“Respect beyond respect,” the Dark Knight Rises actress wrote. “@Beyonce just changed so many games. Queen just became an Empress. Chills all over.” It’s a good thing Hathaway included the caption, because the clip could be taken one of two ways. The “B” on her hand stands for Beyonce and her mind was blown by the album and HBO documentary, or she only gives Lemonade a B rating — as in, it’s good, but not great — and her mind was blown by remembering all the stupid things her Interstellar character did.
It’s probably the former.
It’s also peculiar that the song Hathaway picked to play in the background is “Halo,” and not something that wasn’t released eight years ago. Such is Beyonce’s power: time and space mean nothing in her orbit. I think that was the plot of Interstellar, actually. Is Beyonce Matt Damon? Discuss.
