It’s just too easy at this point. With Twitter as her weapon of choice and a journalist out for a troll, internet fireworks erupted shortly after Azealia Banks’ Sunday performance at Splendour in the Grass Festival in Byron Bay, New South Wales.
The rapper criticized Australian audiences for being “violent and belligerent” and “terrible crowds to play for” in a series of rapid-fire tweets.
The beef began after a local journalist tweeted at Banks congratulating her on “completing her first-ever full Australian concert,” referencing the 2013 shows in Sydney and Melbourne that Banks walked out on after fans began to throw items at her on stage.
Banks let him know she would have “walked off the stage if someone had thrown something,” and, adding insult to injury, saying outings down under are “never really worth the trip.”

Recently, the “212” singer also weighed in on the Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj Twitter feud to drum up support for her own work being overlooked. In the series of tweets, she claimed all her videos deserve VMAs, and her album “deserves a Grammy,” but she will never get one because “America doesn’t like opinionated black women.” She’s also taken on Iggy Azalea, Erykah Badu and Action Bronson on the social network.
