You may or may not be familiar with an internet phenomenon called “Baracksdubs.” These are videos that use editing to make it appear that current President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, is “singing” or “rapping” some popular song. Some songs previously covered include “Sorry” by Justin Bieber, “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen, and the Pokemon theme. Now, you can add newcomer Desiigner to the list of people who have had the honor of having President Obama cover their song.
The song in question is “Panda,” which has an interesting story in its own right. “Panda” is currently the No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100, after slowly climbing up the charts over nine weeks after debuting at No. 96. Also, Desiigner is only 18 years old, making him the youngest person to top the charts since Lorde.
But to be honest, this isn’t about Desiigner — it’s about the POTUS and his “performance” of “Panda.” The video is a little shorter than other Baracksdubs, as it’s only, like, 30 seconds of the song. Nevertheless, it’s amusing and captures the spirit of the song at least. Plus, it’s always kind of impressive to see just how many songs you can concoct from fusing Obama speeches together, certainly so many ones about trapping out the bando.
