Dave Chappelle Celebrated His Return On ‘SNL’ By Bringing Back A Radiohead Classic At The Afterparty

The SNL afterparty is one of those things that lives on as this exclusive party with some leaks and stories that sneak out, most famously with the massive #SNL40 party and its legendary guest list. The New York Times looked into the parties back in 2014, noting just how exclusive the things have been over the years:

“S.N.L.” is an institution of rituals, dating back to its first season in 1975-76: The show ends, the principals wave goodbye, and idling limos await outside 30 Rockefeller Plaza to whisk the cast and their guests to the after-party, the location of which is kept on a need-to-know basis.

It seems crazy to me to have a big party after a week of crazy work, but I’m lame as hell. Most people would give up plenty to get into one of these parties and the clip from Questlove above is one reason why. After Dave Chappelle wrapped up his return to sketch comedy, he hit the stage at the afterparty to bring back a Radiohead classic. This isn’t his first time singing “Creep” for a captive audience, taking the mic at Erykah Badu’s birthday celebration back in February. It’s his go to song, right there next to “Round Midnight.” It also might be the sign of a good time, when Chappelle busts out the Radiohead, you know the party is great.

Questlove also shared some A Tribe Called Quest love on his Instagram account a few days before their SNL appearance. They were guests at his Bowl Train show in Brooklyn and he shared this short look after it let out. The Q-Tip face is priceless here:

Lenny Kravitz managed to sneak in some time to play drums during the evening, adding to the already substantial star wattage that’d be on display throughout the proceedings.
