Maybe you haven’t heard of Delicate Steve yet? If so, please click on the above video and watch a neon-pink-suit-clad Christian Peslak (who also directed the clip) dance around to Steve’s new single “Cartoon Rock.” The video then takes a turn to cartoon form, an animated version of Steve skateboarding down a Line Rider-esque ramp. Okay, now continue reading.
On January 27 of next year Delicate Steve (aka Steve Marion) will release This Is Steve, his first new record in four years and his first for Anti- Records — who are on something of a roll as they also just signed Japandroids for their new LP. That said, the last four years have been far from boring for Steve, who has spent most of his time making records with Sondre Lerche and Death Grip’s Zach Hill, opening a sold out North American tour for Tame Impala and providing guitar for Paul Simon’s latest record. Not a shabby resume!
The first taste of This Is Steve comes in the zany “Cartoon Rock” video above, but the gist of Delicate Steve is that he makes entirely instrumental music. This Is Steve features ten wordless songs with melodies so strong that you’ll undoubtedly find yourself singing along. Check out the album’s full track list below.
