…90 seconds of growling and snarling.
“Rebirth” by Yuck
Like calling a song about blueberries “Ode to Blueberries,” “Rebirth” is Yuck’s first single since vocalist Daniel Blumbererg left the band last year. He’s been replaced by Max Bloom, though the real change is the band’s warm, swirling, on-the-nose embrace of My Bloody Valentine. It’s practically a cover, which yes, is a compliment.

“Supersoaker” by Kings of Leon
If I had a pool, I’d be jumping into it right now, with this song playing in the background. But I don’t. So, I’ll still listen, but I’ll make to do with squirting myself with a Supersoaker, for I have no but respect for synergy.
“California” by Mazzy Star
The most-liked YouTube comment for “California”: “This brings me so much happiness.” Me thinks he’s missing the point of Mazzy Star, but I understand the hyperbole: Seasons of Your Day is the group’s first album in 17, and during that time, the world has been taken over by soft-strumming acoustic singer-songwriters.
Leave it to the professionals in Mazzy.
