Speaking of videos that we’ve seen a thousand times before… Making a huge comeback on the Twitter and Vine meme circuit is this old classic clip of some “cybergoth” kids having themselves a little dance party. While it’s not exactly being played as a brand new clip, people have been giving this spectacular dance party the music remix makeover, and it rarely fails to make me smile. The hashtag #GothsDanceToAnything* has turned into a Vine party of people pairing different songs with this video and another classic, and it’s really just a challenge to see who makes the best match.
Of course, like any good trending meme, there are also way too many people ripping off other people’s Tweets, and we really need to come together as a society and stop Tweet theft. It’s the No. 1 problem affecting today’s young people who are trying to become “Internet famous.” Until then, let’s enjoy the best of #GothsDanceToAnything, which wins my coveted title of the Best Thing Happening on Twitter and/or Vine Right Now. It’s as fun as “Goths Up Trees” but set to music!
*I fully expect to be told that these people are not goth, but instead some other term I’ve never heard of. Please, feel free to be that person.
(Also, H/T to Brian Hickey for making me notice these in the first place, and therefore making my day brighter.)

My heart is always yours to win if it involves Rupert Holmes.

That’s infectious. I started dancing right away.

It’s a veritable dance party in my home right now.

Obviously, with any meme, you’re going to get the most obvious musical selections. Still, A for effort.

Naturally, everything needs a Taylor Swift version. Give me the Taylor Swift with goats remix and you’ll be my best friend forever.

Pitbull, too. If someone’s dancing to anything, it had better at least involve Pitbull and some point. DALE!

I’m so out of touch with music. Why can’t everyone just dub over everything with REO Speedwagon and Motley Crue’s “Kickstart My Heart”?

Look, I don’t have a problem admitting that this song is catchy like the flu, but at least play the chorus, man. There’s no point if you can’t shout “Baby, you light up my world like nobody else!” to the point that your neighbor considers moving.

That had me laughing way too hard earlier. Whatever, I’ve never claimed to be cool.

Sorry, but if you’re going to invoke this particular industrial dance group video, you’re going to need to come at it better than the King:
(I originally went with the “Vogue” version, but this song is so much more delightful.)
