While many Guns N’ Roses fans would be happy just to hear the band run through the classics on their reunion tour, it looks like we might be getting new music out of the deal, as well.
Former Guns N’ Roses publicist Arlett Vereecke told Classic Rock magazine that Slash is in the studio, laying down tracks for what can only be GNR songs.
“I know they’re doing some recording. They’re definitely doing something there in the studio. Axl hasn’t been there, but Slash is definitely in there and it’s not for anyone else.”
Another ex-associate told the magazine that guitarist Izzy Stradlin and bassist Duff McKagan were working together on new music.
“Duff and Izzy were in the studio before Christmas doing stuff,” said former manager Alan Niven. “At a casual glance, I think they’ve got at least a couple of tracks down.”
Only McKagan, Slash and Axl Rose have been confirmed for the reunion. If Niven’s story is true, however, it looks like Stradlin may be involved in the much-hyped tour.
So far, six dates have been confirmed. GNR will play two shows in Las Vegas, both weekends of Coachella and two shows in Mexico City.
