Halsey is on the cups of releasing her new album, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, which she’s been saying is going to be even bigger than her debut record Badlands. Though she’s already won big at the Billboard Music Awards tonight as a featured artist on The Chainsmokers’ enormous hit “Closer,” she was eager to get out onstage and perform a new single of her own, “Now Or Never.”
Her album has some dystopian undertones, as the video for “Now Or Never” so aptly encapsulated, but tonight Halsey was feeling a bit romantic, donning a cape that was embedded with roses and performing on a set that was strewn with flowers and Victorian furniture.
Her set wasn’t the only visually-stunning part of the performance though, Halsey rocked what looked like a sleek, sheer pantsuit that invoked the concept of a wedding dress at least, complete with a headscarf and a criss-cross halter that showed off some of her infamous tattoos. Her vibe definitely channeled the song’s desire for commitment and the alternative sound of the track is a bit of a break from what else is going on in the pop world right now.
