To help celebrate Bob Dylan’s 75th birthday, as well as the 50th anniversary of the legendary Blonde on Blonde album, The Best Fest will be throwing the musician a two-day bash. The Best Fest has had similar shows celebrating the works of George Harrison, Tom Petty, as well as Fleetwood Mac, but this year takes on one of America’s most prolific songwriters. This installment will take place at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and will include performances from Kurt Vile, Kacey Musgraves, Jason Isbell, Emmylou Harris, Brendan Benson, City & Colour, Boz Scaggs, and most notably, Kesha.
This will be Kesha’s first performance since a judge dismissed her claims against her alleged rapist, Dr. Luke. Kesha’s battle against the producer has been an ongoing one that saw many major musicians taking her side, including Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and even Girls creator Lena Dunham. The singer was allegedly offered “freedom” from her label if she made a public apology, and she responded in an Instagram post saying, “I will not take back the TRUTH. I would rather let the truth ruin my career than lie for a monster ever again.” Dr. Luke has repeatedly denied those allegations.
Not to take anything away from Bob Dylan on this milestone event, but this is also a major moment for Kesha, and the rest of the music world will certainly be watching.
