It’s been seven years since Metallica unleashed its last album, Death Magnetic, onto the world, and in that time many have wondered when the band’s next album would hit iTunes and store shelves. Well, according to Lars Ulrich, things are closer than ever:
“We are fucking in it,” drummer Lars Ulrich emphatically tells Rolling Stone. “We’ve got lots of songs, and we’re honing them and tweaking them. It’s pretty close.” (via Rolling Stone)
And before anyone gets suspicious, the drummer added:
“Right now, it’s not like we’re going to do one of those things where we’ll just give it to iTunes on Thursday without telling anybody,” he says. “That’s not in the cards.”
As for the exact “when” concerning the release of the band’s next album, it’s still up in the air. But almost any news is good news at this point when it concerns Metallica, so we’ll take it.
