When the history of boy bands is written — that is, once boy bands are picked off the Earth like a scab — it will read that New Kids on the Block were, for an impressive amount of time, one of the biggest groups on the planet. Their popularity can be solely attributed to everyone’s favorite Wahlberg, Donnie. His less successful brother, Mark, was also a New Kid before he formed his own group, Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. And he was never heard from again.
Until last night at Madison Square Garden, when Marky Mark reunited with NKOTB on-stage for the first time in 20 years. The Main Event Tour brought together New Kids, TLC, and Nelly (FINALLY), but at the New York date, 50 Cent dropped by to perform “In Da Club” and Mark Wahlberg awkwardly walked around giving handshakes while “Good Vibrations” played.
He never stripped down to his Calvin Kleins, which surely disappointed the middle-aged women who still pay good money to see New Kids On the Block in 2015.
