Donald Trump’s adviser on veterans’ issues has asserted that Hillary Clinton should be placed in front of a firing squad and “shot for treason” during a radio appearance on Tuesday. Al Baldasaro, who is a state representative and Trump delegate from New Hampshire, has appeared at multiple campaign events with the real estate mogul.

Baldasaro made his comments on the Jeff Kuhner Show, where he told the host that Clinton was “the Jane Fonda of the Vietnam War.” Baldasaro also called Clinton a “disgrace for the lies that she told those mothers” whose children were killed in Benghazi. Baldasaro called for Clinton’s assassination and referred to her as a “piece of garbage.” Baldasaro doubled down on his comments in a follow up interview with the Boston Globe on Wednesday. He explained why he thinks Clinton should receive a death sentence:

“When you take classified information on a server that deals with where our State Department, Special Forces, CIA, whatever in other countries, that’s a death sentence for those people if that information gets in the hands of other countries or the terrorists. As far as I’m concerned, that’s information for the enemy. In the military, shot, firing squad. So I stand by what I said.”

Treason is defined by 18 U.S. Code § 2381 as levying war against the United States “or adher[ing] to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere.”

The House Select Committee on Benghazi absolved Clinton of all wrongdoing in June. The FBI has also recommended that the Justice Department should not bring charges against Clinton in relation to her email probe.
