It’s been nearly two weeks since Michael Page countered Cyborg Santos with a flying knee that crushed his skull. The noise the knee made was as unforgettable as the dent in Cyborg’s forehead. It’s truly an MMA injury that will never be forgotten.

In the weeks since Cyborg’s injury, we’ve seen his wife start a successful GoFundMe that was initially meant to help pay his medical bill, but Cyborg will now use to help impoverished children in his native Brazil.

Now, after a successful 7-hour surgery, Cyborg’s out of the hospital. He’s finally able to, excuse the pun, head home. But, before he left the hospital, he sent an update on his health along with a collection of gruesome pictures to MMA Fighting.

“I had surgery yesterday, and thank God everything went fine. It lasted seven hours, and the hospital will give Bellator a full report later today. God guided the doctors in this surgery so everything went well. They didn’t tell me anything about timetable for recovery yet. I’ll be released from hospital today, and then they will tell me how long it will take. But it will be fast. I’ll be back soon.”

We’re thrilled Cyborg is feeling well, but he should maybe rethink the whole being back soon thing.
