Apple Sneakily Upgraded The iPad While Cutting The Price

Apple has a tendency to sneak in other things while distracting us with something shiny. So while they were talking about the iPhone 7 and showing off Nintendo’s arrival on iOS with Super Mario Run, the company was also quietly updating the iPad and cutting the price.

The updates aren’t anything major; the iPad now conforms to the storage structure of the iPhone 7, with 32GB being the smallest amount of storage you can get on an iPad. This has been accompanied by a set of price cuts; for example, the iPad Mini 2, formerly $319 for a 32GB entry, is now $269. The strangest bit out of all this is the fact that Apple appears to have done away with 64GB iPads completely. It’s not a big deal; now instead of buying a 64GB iPad, you get a 128GB for the same price. Really, that’s hard to gripe about.

Keep in mind, though, that the arrival of iOS10 and Apple’s new processor the A10 Fusion all but guarantees an update to the iPad is coming, likely before the end of the year. So if you’re considering an iPad for work or want the cutting edge, you may want to wait for the upgrade. But if you don’t mind last year’s chip, there are some good deals to be had.
